Long ago, there lived a little ant in a forest. One day, the ant fell into a river. The little ant struggled to get out, but the river was flowing too fast. A dove perching on a nearby tree saw the the ant and thought, “Poor little ant! I will save your life.” The dove dropped a leaf into the water. The ant climbed on to the floating leaf and returned to safety. He looked up to see that it was the dove that had saved his life. The little ant was grateful. He never forgot when the dove saved him.
A few days passed. A hunter came to the forest. He saw the dove perching on a tree. He took aim with his bow and arrow. The ant saw that the dove was in danger. He climbed up the hunter’s leg and bit him hard. “Ow!” cried the hunter in pain, and his arrow narrowly missed the dove. The dove noticed how the little ant had repaid her act of kindness. She flew away to safety, happy that she had won a friend who was loyal and faithful.
